Kang Yi Met with the Delegation of Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística

On May 14, Kang Yi, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS of China), met with João Victor Villaverde de Almeida, Coordinating Secretary of Ministério do Planejamento e Orçamento; Márcio Pochmann, Director of Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE); and their delegation in Beijing.

Commissioner Kang Yi extended a warm welcome to Brazilian delegation. He expressed that the relation between China and Brazil has entered the "golden period" of development at present with the strategic leadership of heads in both countries. Moreover, a mechanism is actively established by the statistical institutes in the two countries to exchange and cooperate closely, and share their principles and approaches, which has achieved a sound effect. The NBS of China is always ready for the deep communication and mutual learning with IBGE to deal with common challenges.

Mr. Villaverde and Mr. Pochmann expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome of the NBS of China. They hope that IBGE can enhance cooperation and interaction in multilateral and bilateral platforms, and work together with the NBS of China to promote the development of Global South’s statistical work.
