Kang Yi Met with Gita Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of International Monetary Fund and Signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation
On November 6, Kang Yi, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS of China) met with the delegation led by Gita Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The two sides exchanged views on future cooperation and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the National Bureau of Statistics of China and the International Monetary Fund. Mao Shengyong, Deputy Commissioner of the NBS of China, accompanied the meeting.
Mr. Kang Yi first welcomed the visit of Ms. Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director. He then recalled the long-term fruitful and friendly cooperation between the NBS of China and the IMF, and expressed gratitude to the IMF for its support to China’s statistical efforts. Kang Yi pointed out that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation will open a new chapter for cooperation between the two sides as China is now at a critical stage of advancing Chinese modernization on all fronts through a high-quality development, which presents new tasks and challenges to the statistical work of China. Kang Yi said that the NBS of China standed steady to vigorously explore and pragmatically cooperate with the IMF under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, further making new contributions to the development of global statistics.
Ms. Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director highly appreciated China’s exploration and practice in national accounting system, digital economy measurement and other aspects. She said that the IMF rather cherishes the cooperation with the NBS of China, and would like to further conduct in-depth exchanges and mutual learning, so as to work together to address future challenges.
