Kang Yi Attends the Opening Ceremony of NBS-HCP Cooperation

On the afternoon of November 25, the opening ceremony of cooperation between the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China and the High Commissioner for Planning (HCP) of Morocco was held via video link. Kang Yi, Director of the NBS of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.



China and Morocco have a long history of exchanges. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1958, both countries have firmly supported each other on issues involving their core interests and major concerns based on mutual trust and understanding. This March, the statistical agencies of China and Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formally establish statistical cooperation and promote exchanges and mutual learning among countries. Moreover, the NBS of China is willing to share with Morocco the concepts, methods, technologies, and achievements of China’s statistical practice, and discuss the ways and methods to deal with new statistical issues and challenges. Through mutual learning , exchanges and enlightenment, both parties can enhance their statistical capabilities, according to Kang Yi.


The relations between Morocco and China have noticed the remarkable pace of development of their cooperation in recent years. Under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, significant results have been made. It is necessary for statistical institutions of both sides to sign an MoU and strengthen statistical exchanges and cooperation. It is hoped that this opening ceremony of cooperation will serve as a starting point to deepen pragmatic cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, referring to Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, the Head of HCP.


During this meeting, Kang Yi and Mr. Alami presented the signed MoU between the NBS of China and the High Commissioner for Planning of Morocco. Professionals from both sides exchanged their opinions on alternative sources of statistical data, big data,business statistics,economy, and forecasting modeling.
