Mr. Ma Jiantang, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), met with Dr. Geoff Raby, Australian Ambassador to China, on October 12, and exchanged opinions on China’s economic situation and bilateral cooperation on statistics.
Mr. Ma pointed out that China has conquered severe impact of international financial crisis, and achieved the lead on economic recovery in 2009. In the first several months of 2010, Chinese Government, through continuous conducting of positive financial policies and adequate easy monetary policies, enhancing pertinence and flexibility on policy-making based on changes of economic situation, had promoted the national economic development from recovery to steady growth quickly. China’s economic development will be expected to keep steady and fast growth momentum and achieve active progress on adjusting economic structures, transforming development patterns and managing inflation expectations in 2010.
Mr. Ma stressed that China’s development is inseparable from the world, China’s development benefits the world. The developing and deepening trade and economic ties between China and Australia has proved it.
Mr. Ma said that NBS of China would like to strengthen further cooperation and exchanges with Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS). He also asked Dr. Geoff Raby to convey his regards to the Mr. Brian Pink, Commissioner of Australia Bureau of Statistics
Messrs. Du Weiqun, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ji Fengxiang, Director-General, Department of Statistical Design and Management, Sheng Laiyun, Deputy Director-General, Department of Comprehensive Statistics, attended the meeting.
