Professor from Harvard University Visit NBS

On September 20, 2005, professor at Harvard University, Mr. Dale W. Jorgenson, the academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and member of National Academy of Science of US and world well-known economist visited NBS. Mr. Zhang Weimin, Deputy Commissioner of NBS met his and chaired his presentation.

The topic of Prof. Jorgenson’s presentation is “Blue Print for an Expanded and Integrated Set of Accounts for the United States”. The main content covers the idea of integrating the existing national accounts and the productivity accounts made by different departments and constructing a new framework for the US national accounts. This is a joint research made by Prof. Jorgenson and Mr. Steven Landefeld, Director of Bureau of Economic Analysis, US.

Prof. Jorgenson also had discussion with experts from Department of National Accounts of NBS I the field of national economic accounts and productivity measurement of the two countries.
