Based on China's accounting system for gross domestic product (GDP) and the results of the Fifth National Economic Census, along with the implementation of a reformed methodology for calculating the housing services of urban residents, the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS of China) has revised the preliminary GDP estimate for 2023.
The GDP for China in 2023 has been revised to 129.4272 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.3690 trillion yuan from the preliminary calculation, marking a growth of 2.7 percent. Among them, the revision based on data from the Fifth National Economic Census resulted in an increase of 2.0257 trillion yuan, with a growth rate of 1.6 percent; and the reform in the calculating method for housing services of urban residents led to an increase of 1.3433 trillion yuan, with a growth rate of 1.1 percent. The value added for the primary industry has been revised to 8.9169 trillion yuan, accounting for 6.9 percent of the GDP; that for the secondary industry has been revised to 47.5936 trillion yuan, accounting for 36.8 percent; and that for the tertiary industry has been revised to 72.9167 trillion yuan, accounting for 56.3 percent.
