New Kinetic Energy Index of China’s Economic Development Increased by 28.4% in 2022

In order to dynamically monitor the changes in the new kinetic energy of China's economic development, the Institute of Statistical Sciences of the National Bureau of Statistics calculated the new kinetic energy index of China's economic development in 2022 by using the fixed base index method based on the statistical monitoring system for new industries, new formats and new business models and the statistical index system of the new kinetic energy of economic development, and revised the historical index data. The results showed that the new kinetic energy index of China's economic development (taking 2014 as 100) was 766.8, an increase of 28.4 percent over the previous year. In 2022, all sub-indexes increased compared with the previous year, among which the network economy index grew the fastest and contributed the most to the growth of the total index.
I. Network economy index. The network economy index in 2022 was 2739.0, an increase of 39.6 percent over the previous year, with a contribution rate of 91.6 percent to the overall index growth.
The innovation driven index in 2022 was 336.3, an increase of 15.5 percent over the previous year, with a contribution rate of 5.3 percent to the overall index growth.
III. Economic vitality index. The economic vitality index in 2022 was 402.6, an increase of 3.5 percent over the previous year, with a contribution rate of 1.6 percent to the overall index growth.
IV. Knowledge capability index. The knowledge capability index in 2022 was 193.4, an increase of 5.9 percent over the previous year, with a contribution rate of 1.3 percent to the overall index growth.
V. Transformation and upgrading index. The transformation and upgrading index in 2022 was 162.8, an increase of 1.2 percent over the previous year, with a contribution rate of 0.2 percent to the overall index growth.

The new kinetic energy index of economic development is a composite index constructed by using the basic data of "three new" surveys and the comprehensive evaluation method of linear weighting, which is used to reflect the development trend and process of new economic momentum. In order to better reflect the long-term change trend of new kinetic energy and dynamically monitor the accumulation process of new kinetic energy, the calculation method of new kinetic energy index of economic development is fixed base method, that is, taking 2014 as the base period, the index value represents the change trend of new kinetic energy of economic development in the reporting period compared with 2014. The specific steps are as follows:
