The Average Annual Wage of Persons Employed in Urban Private Units in 2022

The average annual wage of persons employed in urban private units nationwide in 2022 was 65,237 yuan, an increase of 2,353 yuan over the previous year and a nominal increase of [1] 3.7%. After deducting price factors, the annual average wage of persons employed in urban private units nationwide increased by 1.7% in real terms in 2022.

 

 

The average annual wages of persons employed in urban private units grouped by region and sector are detailed in Table 1and Table 2.

1. Explanatory Notes

 

(1) Personnel employed in the unit: refers to those who work in the unit and are remunerated for their work by the unit.

 

(2) Gross wages: according to the "Regulations on the Composition of Gross Wages" (for details, please refer to the official website http://www.stats.gov.cn/xxgk/zcfggz/tjxzfg2020/201708/t20170803_1758101.html), gross wages refer to the total amount of labor remuneration paid directly by the unit to those employed in the unit during the reporting period (quarterly or annually). It includes hourly wages, piece wages, bonuses, allowances and subsidies, overtime wages, and wages paid in particular cases.

 

The gross wages is the pre-tax salary, including the part paid individually by employees such as individual income tax, social security fund and housing fund directly withheld or remitted by the unit from the individual's salary, as well as housing and utility bills.

 

Gross wages should be included in the calculation of gross wages whether they are charged to cost or not, and whether they are paid in currency or in kind.

 

(3) Average wage: refers to the average wage per capita paid by the unit during the reporting period. The calculation formula is:

 

Average wage=Total Amount of Wage in the Reporting Period/Average Number of People in the Reporting Period

 

2. Statistical Coverage

 

Private legal entities in urban areas and statistically recognized industrial activity units regarded as legal entities include private limited liability companies, private joint stock limited companies, private partnerships and private sole proprietorships.

 

Wage statistics mainly focus on the employees of legal entities, while non-unit employees such as individual employees and freelancers are not included in the scope of wage statistics.

 

3. Survey Methods

 

According to the Survey System of Enterprise One Table and the Survey System of Labor Wage formulated by the National Bureau of statistics, the comprehensive investigation method is adopted for the legal entity with one set of tables, and the sampling investigation method is adopted for the non-legal entity with one set of tables.

 

4. Division on Eastern, Central, Western and Northeastern Regions

 

The Eastern Region includes 10 provinces (municipalities directly under the Central Government) of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong and Hainan.

 

The Central Region includes 6 provinces of Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan.

 

The Western Region includes 12 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) of Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang.

 

The Northeast region includes 3 provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang.

 

5. Industrial Classification Standard

 

The industrial classification standard of wage statistics shall be implemented in accordance with the Industrial Classification of National Economy (GB / T4754-2017).

 

6. The data of the base period of the previous year shall be subject to the officially published China Statistical Yearbook -2021.
