The consumer confidence was being recovered in the third quarter persistently, and the satisfaction index reached 94.3 points

The latest research report of the ChinaEconomicBoomMonitoringCenter of the National Bureau of Statistics indicates that the consumer confidence index held over a small-scale growth in the third quarter after experiencing a valley in the second quarter, reaching 93.1 points in September from 88.6 points in June.

The major factor that drives the recovery of confidence of consumers is the rising satisfaction index of consumers. The consumer satisfaction index reached 94.3 points in September, and the satisfaction index in July, August and September rose by 0.71.2 and 1 point respectively over the previous month. The rising satisfaction index shows that consumers are satisfied with current economic status on one hand, and most interviewed consumers thought that industries, such as traffic, retail, food and tourism that were affected by SARS seriously, had walked out the shadow of SARS, and some industries have realized normal growth. On the other hand, consumers were full of enthusiasm on consumer durables purchase. September and October are peak seasons for goods distribution all through the ages, and the businessmen are providing profiting measures continuously. Policies released by related ministries and commissions also stimulated the purchase desire of consumers, for instance the measures issued by the Ministry of Public Security to facilitating the people- expanding the age scope for driver license application, increasing the amount of automobiles exempted from inspection and quadric number selection, won quite a few new clients for the auto sales market, and the regulation that public housings of units in Beijing that have been purchased by individuals are allowed to be exchanged on market shall also greatly boost the development of the secondary housing market. Investigations show that the proportion of people who had intent of purchasing cars and houses as well as going out for sight-seeing was greatly promoted in September.

Another factor that drives the recovery of consumer confidence is the sound economic expectation. The consumer expectation index was 92.2 in September, same as that in August, and most consumers deem that the national economy shall sure to keep a fast growth momentum this year, and China's economy shall keep on driving on the expresswaywhile for the household income growth of the year, most consumers appeared to be optimistic but in a cautious way.
