Jobholders in China Gradually Transferring to the Tertiary Industry
It is shown from the Second National Census of Basic Units that by the end of 2001, the amount of jobholders in all industrial units (urban residents and small industrial or commercial businesses are excluded) was 215.779 millions, a drop by 14.028 millions over that in 1996,wherein the amount of jobholders in productive industries was 167.866 millions, a drop by 17.378 millions over that in 1996; and that in non-productive industries was 47.913 millions, an increase by 3.354 millions.
Among all personnel engaged in all classes of industrial activity units, 4.078 millions were in the primary industry, a drop by 1.054 millions over that in 1996; 117.902 millions were in the secondary industry, a drop by 18.496 millions; and 93.799 millions were in the tertiary industry, an increase by 5.526 millions.
