Energy Production in July of 2022

In July, the production of raw coal, crude oil, natural gas and electric power of industries above designated size kept growth. Compared with June, the growth rate of raw coal, natural gas and power production accelerated, and the crude oil maintained a stable growth.

I. Raw Coal, Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production and Relevant Information

The growth rate of raw coal production was accelerated, and the decline of import was narrowed. In July, 370 million tons of raw coal were produced, a year-on-year increase of 16.1 percent, 0.8 percentage point faster than that of the previous month, and the average daily output was 12.02 million tons. The import of coal was 23.52 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.1 percent, a decrease of 10.9 percentage points from the previous month.

From January to July, 2.56 billion tons of raw coal were produced, an increase of 11.5 percent year on year. The imported coal was 138.52 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 18.2 percent.

Crude oil production increased steadily, and the decline in imports narrowed slightly. In July, it produced 17.13 million tons of crude oil, a year-on-year increase of 3.0 percent, 0.6 percentage point slower than the previous month, and the average daily output was 552,000 tons. Imported crude oil was 37.33 million tons, down 9.5 percent year-on-year, 1.1 percentage points lower than last month.

From January to July, it produced 120 million tons of crude oil, an increase of 3.7 percent year on year. The import of crude oil was 289.84 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.0 percent.

The decline in crude oil processing volume narrowed. In July, 53.21 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 8.8 percent, 0.9 percentage point lower than that of the previous month, and the average daily processing was 1.716 million tons. From January to July, 380.27 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 6.3 percent.

The growth rate of natural gas production was accelerated, and the decline in imports was narrowed. In July, it produced 17.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, an increase of 8.2 percent year-on-year, 7.8 percentage points faster than last month, and the average daily output was 550 million cubic meters. The import of natural gas was 8.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.9 percent, a decrease of 6.0 percentage points from the previous month.

From January to July, 126.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, an increase of 5.4 percent year on year. The imported natural gas was 62.21 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.6 percent.

II. Electric Power Production

The growth rate of power production was accelerated. In July, the power generation was 805.9 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percent, an increase of 3.0 percentage points over the previous month, and the average daily power generation was 26 billion kwh. From January to July, the power generation was 4.77 trillion kwh, an increase of 1.4 percent year on year.

From the perspective of varieties, in July, thermal power changed from decreasing to increasing, the growth of hydropower and wind power slowed down, the decline of nuclear power narrowed, and the growth of solar power accelerated. Among them, thermal power increased by 5.3 percent year-on-year and decreased by 6.0 percent last month; hydropower increased by 2.4 percent, 26.6 percentage points slower than last month; wind power grew by 5.7 percent, 11.0 percentage points slower than last month; nuclear power decreased by 3.3 percent, 5.7 percentage points lower than that of last month; solar power generation increased by 13.0 percent, 3.1 percentage points higher than last month.

Because the scope of Industrial Enterprises above the designated size changes every year, in order to ensure that this year's data is comparable with the previous year's, the same period used to calculate the growth rate of various indicators such as product output is consistent with the statistical scope of enterprises in this period, and there is a caliber difference between the data released last year.
