Mr. Ning Jizhe Visited the German Federal Statistical Office and Signed a Sino-Germany Statistical Cooperation Agreement

From November 18 to 19, Mr. Ning Jizhe, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, led a delegation to visit the German Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, Germany.

 

 

 

At the meeting with Mr. Dieter Sarreither, President of the Federal Statistical Office, Mr. Ning Jizhe said that China and Germany has begun a 23-year statistical cooperation since the two sides signed a statistical cooperation agreement in 1993. The cooperation covered industrial statistics, price statistics, statistics law, statistical information construction and other fields. The statistical cooperation between China and Germany has been deepened constantly, the two sides highly trusted each other, and complemented each other's advantages.

 

 

 

Mr. Ning pointed out that, through the close cooperation between the two sides, the NBS of China has understood and learned from Germany’s practices and experience of statistical work under the conditions of modern market economy, which will help China promote statistical reform and development under the conditions of socialist market economy. The cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and the statisticians of the two countries have established a profound friendship.

 

Mr. Sarreither said that although the statistical systems of China and Germany are different, the statistical agencies of the two countries are consistent in providing high-quality statistical data and statistical services to the government and the public. The project team of German Federal Bureau of Statistics has been acquainted with China's statistical work and has shared China's statistical results in the process of developing statistical cooperation with the NBS of China. 

 

The two sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation between China and Germany in statistical systems and strategic planning, employment statistics, and international statistical training, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in such areas as construction statistics and survey methods of real estate price. Mr. Ning and and Mr. Sarreither signed a Sino-Germany statistical cooperation agreement for the next three years.

 

The visit was accompanied by Messrs. Zhang Jun, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, Xing Zhihong, Director-General of the Department of Urban Surveys, and Xia Rongpo, Director-General of the Statistical Education and Training Center of the NBS.
