Brief Introduction

Main Contents and Sources of Data

Data in this chapter show statistics on public management, mass organizations, social insurance and so on.

I. Data on public management cover information on deputies to the National People’s Congress (NPC) and members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), information such as criminal cases registered and offense cases against public order handled by the public security organs, traffic accidents, cases handled by people’s procuratorate, cases accepted and settled by the people’s courts, and statistics on lawyers, notarization and mediation in the judicial department, arbitration of labor and personnel disputes in the human resources and social security departments. Data are tabulated and provided by the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

II. Data on mass organizations cover information on trade unions which are provided by All-China Federation of Trade Unions. The detailed information can be found in Statistical Yearbook on Chinese Trade Union (All-China Federation of Trade Unions).

III. Data on social security mainly include revenue and expenses of social insurance fund, contributors and beneficiaries of basic endowment insurance, unemployment insurance, basic medical insurance, work-related injury insurance and birth insurance. Data are provided by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and National Healthcare Security Administration.
