Brief Introduction

Main Contents and Sources of Data

I. This chapter consists divisions of administrative areas, and summary data on the national economic and social development, which are compiled by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and National Bureau of Statistics respectively.

II. Data on divisions of administrative areas in China are prepared and provided by the Ministry of Civil Affairs on the basis of the changes in the divisions of administrative areas as approved by the State Council at the end of the previous year.

III. The summary data on the national economy reflect the overall situation of and changes in economic and social development in terms of  total size. growth, structure, ratio, and efficiency.

IV. Statistical coverage of basic units include all corporate units and establishments. Data come from administrative records on unit examination and registration by various departments, and information on increase, changes and cancellation of units obtained in regular statistical survey.
