Culture, Sports and Public Health
I. Data in this chapter mainly show
the development of culture, sports and public health undertakings.
II. Data on culture cover mainly
the situations on institutions, personnel and business activities of arts
(performing groups and venues), libraries, mass culture, cultural relics,
broadcasting, films, televisions, news and publication.
(1) The data on the causes of arts,
libraries, mass culture are provided by the Ministry of Culture.
(2) The data on cultural relics are
provided by the State Bureau of Cultural Relics.
(3) The data on broadcasting, film
and television are mainly provided by the State Administration of Broadcasting,
Film and Television.
(4) The data on news and
publication are mainly provided by the State Agency of News and Publication.
III. Data on sports cover mass
sports (sports for all) and athletics sports, including mainly the number of
staff and workers in sports departments, number of athletes, coaches and
referees, number of stadiums and gymnasiums, achievements in athletic sport
events, number of persons who have come up to the National Physical Training
Program Standards and the international exchanges of sport delegations. Data on
sports are mainly from the State Sports Administration.
IV. Data on public health include
mainly the number of institutions, personnel, hospital beds, number of patients
treated and in-patients, major diseases as the causes of death and the
proportion to the total deaths, the incidence of, and the deaths caused by infectious
diseases, estimation of health cost, etc. Data on public health are mainly from
the Ministry of Public Health.
The above-mentioned are collected and tabulated in accordance with the statistical reporting schemes stipulated by the departments concerned, in most cases reported to the higher authorities level by level. They include the statistical reporting schemes on culture, on cultural relics, on radio and television broadcasting and film-making, on news and publication, on sports and on public health.
