Kang Yi Met with the Delegation of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic

On the morning of July 26, Mr. Kang Yi, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics of China(NBS), met with Mr. Bakytbek Shakunov, Deputy Director of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, and his delegation in Beijing.

Mr. Kang Yi welcomed the delegation led by Mr. Shakunov. Mr. Kang Yi said that China and Kyrgyzstan border each other by mountains and rivers and have a long history of traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has continued to develop in-depth, laying a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation between the statistical agencies of the two countries. In 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan, the statistical agencies of the two countries signed the Memorandum of Cooperation(MOC) to open up a new chapter of cooperation. The NBS is willing to carry out pragmatic and effective cooperation with the Kyrgyzstan side under the framework of the MOC, to conduct exchanges on areas of common interest, to promote the sharing of knowledge and experience, to learn from each other, and to promote the common enhancement of statistical capacity.

Mr. Shakunov expressed his gratitude to the NBS for the thoughtful arrangements. He pointed out that this visit is of great significance for the implementation of the MOC between the two sides and further strengthening the exchanges and cooperation. He hoped to learn more about China’s useful experience in e-commerce statistics, online retailing statistics, big data statistics applications, and other aspects through exchanges, thus improving and perfecting Kyrgyzstan’s statistical work. Moreover, he hoped to explore areas of mutual interest, strengthen the exchange of experience, deepen practical cooperation, and address common challenges.

During the visit, the delegation of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic had exchanges with the relevant specialists of the NBS on the national statistical system,  data production process, data release, online retailing statistics, tourism statistics, digital economy statistics, e-commerce statistics, and statistics on information and communication technologies.
