55th Session of the International Statistical Institute was held in Sydney

The amount of submitted papers of Chinese delegation was the top one of session. 

55th Session of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) was held in Sydney, Australia on April 5, 2005. Mr. Li Deshui, commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), and president of China Statistics Academy, and Mr. Shao Zongming, vice-president of China Statistics Academy presented meeting. 

During the conference, Mr. Li Deshui met with number of delegation heads of other countries, and people from international statistical organizations. Mr. Li also had friendly talk with the representatives from Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan province. Mr. Li is going to meet with relevant international organizations for preparing the coming International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS IV) in Beijing in 2007. 

For this ISI session, China has a strong lineup delegation. All representatives came through by strictly paper and English level selection; they came from different classes of statistics organization of government, branch statistics organization and statistics specialty of Universities and Colleges (department, academy and institution) of high representative. The amount of submitted papers of Chinese delegation ranked as the top one among other countries. The representatives would deliver special invited speeches, special topic speeches and paste papers to carry through widely international intercommunion in statistics theoretic, statistics system and measures, and the scene of statistics fields. 

Mr. Sui Shengli, vice secretary-general of China Statistics Academy introduced, nowadays, along with the continually, stable and fast development of economy, China’s international status was improving. China has strong influence in international statistical field, more and more statistical offices of other countries and international organizations paid full attention to the development of China statistics, and recognized the statistical work of China. 

Delegations from 102 countries and regions and representatives of main international statistics organizations attended meeting.
