Symposium on Macro Economic Policy and Statistics was Held in Beijing

In order to boost the development and Improvement of China’s statistical system, and to provide better data foundation to national macro economic adjustment and control, the People’s Bank of China, National Bureau of Statistics and International Monetary Fund Jointly held “Symposium on Macro Economic Policy and Statistics” in Beijing International Hotel on January 28, 2005.

 

Mr. Li Deshui, the commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics of China, presided the symposium. Mr. Zhou Xiaochuan, the governor of the People’s Bank of China made a speech on “China’s Statistical System Reform and Data Analysis”. Ms. Carson, NBS’s International Statistical Advisor, and former Director of Statistical Department of International Monetary Fund (IMF), gave a speech related to the topics on international standards of macro economic statistics, China macro economic statistics, GDP, and the operation problems on macro economic statistics in the other countries.

 

About 7 Vice-Ministers and 60 Director-Generals from more than 19 economic and financial management and research departments, suach as, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agrculture, People’s Bank of China, National Bureau of Foreign Exchange, National Audit Office, China Banking Regulatory Commission, and Development Research Centre of the State Council, etc., attended the symposium. All the representatives involed into the discussion comprised the topic of the symposium.
