National Bureau of Statistics of China 2022-05-19 10:32 Print| Large| Medium| Small

In April, the production of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas, the main energy products of industries above designated size, maintained growth, and power production decreased year-on-year. Comparing with March, the growth rate of raw coal production has decreased, the production of crude oil and natural gas has remained stable, the production of electricity has changed from increase to decrease, and hydropower, wind power and solar power have maintained rapid growth.

I. Raw Coal, Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production and Relevant Information

The production of raw coal increased and the import turned from decreasing to increasing. The policy of increasing coal production and supply continued to be promoted, and raw coal production maintained rapid growth. In April, 360 million tons of raw coal were produced, with a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent, 4.1 percentage points slower than that of the previous month, and the average daily output was 12.09 million tons. The import of coal was 23.55 million tons, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year and a decrease of 39.6 percent in last month.

From January to April, 1.45 billion tons of raw coal were produced, with a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent. 75.41 million tons of coal were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 16.2 percent.

Crude oil production increased steadily, and imports turned from decline to increase. In April, 17 million tons of crude oil were produced, with a year-on-year increase of 4.0 percent, 0.1 percentage point higher than that of the previous month, and the average daily output was 567,000 tons. The imported crude oil was 43.03 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.6 percent and a decrease of 14.0 percent in last month.

From January to April, 68.19 million tons of crude oil were produced, an increase of 4.3 percent year-on-year. Imported crude oil was 170.89 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.8 percent.

The decline in crude oil processing volume expanded. In April, 51.81 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 10.5 percent, an increase of 8.5 percentage points over the previous month, with an average daily processing of 1.727 million tons. From January to April, 223.25 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8 percent.

Natural gas production remained stable and the decline in imports expanded. In April, the production of natural gas was 17.7 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent, a slowdown of 1.6 percentage points over the previous month, and the average daily output was 590 million cubic meters. The imported natural gas was 8.09 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 20.3 percent, an increase of 12.5 percentage points over the previous month.

From January to April, 74.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, an increase of 6.2 percent year-on-year. 35.87 million tons of imported natural gas, a year-on-year decrease of 8.9 percent.

II. Electric Power Production

Power production has changed from increase to decrease. In April, the power generation was 608.6 billion kwh, a year-on-year decrease of 4.3 percent, an increase of 0.2 percent last month, and the average daily power generation was 20.29 billion kwh. From January to April, the power generation was 2.6 trillion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 percent.

In terms of varieties, in April, the decline of thermal power expanded, the growth rate of hydropower, nuclear power and wind power slowed down to varying degrees, and the growth rate of solar power accelerated. Among them, thermal power decreased by 11.8 percent year-on-year, an increase of 6.1 percentage points over the previous month; hydropower increased by 17.4 percent, 2.4 percentage points slower than last month; nuclear power increased by 0.9 percent, 1.3 percentage points slower than last month; wind power increased by 14.5 percent, 9.3 percentage points slower than last month; and solar power generation increased by 24.9 percent, 8.1 percentage points higher than the previous month.

Annotations:

1. Explanatory Notes

Average daily product output: It is calculated by dividing the total output of Industrial Enterprises above the designated size announced in that month by the calendar days of that month.

2. Statistical Coverage

The statistical caliber of the output data in the report is above the designated size of industry, and the statistical scope is industrial enterprises with annual main business income of more than 20 million yuan.

Because the scope of Industrial Enterprises above the designated size changes every year, in order to ensure that this year's data is comparable with the previous year's, the same period used to calculate the growth rate of various indicators such as product output is consistent with the statistical scope of enterprises in this period, and there is a caliber difference between the data released last year.

3. Data Source

Import data comes from the General Administration of Customs, of which the data in April 2022 is the express data.

4. Conversion relationship of natural gas units: 1 ton is equal to 1380 cubic meters.
