Communiqué on National Energy Consumption for Unit GDP in the First Half of 2007

In the first half of 2007, the national energy consumption for unit GDP declining 2.78 percent, that of the electricity consumption per unit of GDP jumping 3.64 percent, and that of the energy consumption per unit of industrial value-added decreasing 3.87 percent, year-on-year. In view of the energy consumption for unit value-added of industry, the coal industry, steel industry, building materials industry, chemical industry, textiles industry, and electric power industry dropped 7.76, 6.49, 7.84, 5.17, 0.73, and 2.57 percent respectively; while that the petroleum and petrochemical industry and non-ferrous metals industry correspondingly surging 1.27 and 1.58 percent in their energy consumption for unit of GDP.
