Xi Jinping’s Congratulatory Letter to the United Nations World Data Forum 2023

On April 24, 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the United Nations World Data Forum 2023.

 

Xi Jinping pointed out that sustainable development is a must choice for the prosperity and progress of human society, and achieving robust, green, and balanced global development is the common aspiration of people around the world. China supports and implements the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, adheres to a new concept of innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development, keeps improving digital infrastructure, builds a sound system of basic data institutions, strengthens data and statistical capacity building, and actively shares its practice and experience in monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals. China is ready to work with all other countries around the world to deepen international cooperation on data under the framework of the Global Development Initiative, help promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations through “data governance”, join hands to build an open and win-win international cooperation landscape in the data field, and promote the common development and progress of all countries.

 

On the same day, the United Nations World Data Forum 2023 was inaugurated in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The forum was initiated and hosted by the United Nations, and co-organized by the National Bureau of Statistics of China and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. The forum is themed as “Towards Data that Empowers Our World”.
