——The 8th China-ASEAN Statistics Forum successfully held in Nanning
The 8th China-ASEAN Statistics Forum’s held successfully in Nanning, Guangxi on September 16. Kang Yi, Director of the National Bureau of Statistics of China and Cai Lixin, Executive Vice Chairwoman of People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region addressed the forum, while director or director’s representatives of national bureau of statistics of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and other countries along with Director of Statistics Division of the ASEAN Secretariat delivered online speeches respectively. Mao Youfeng, Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics of China chaired and concluded the forum.
According to Kang Yi, China and ASEAN countries are connected by mountains and rivers and boast of cultural similarities and profound friendship, which make them good neighbors and good partners that will share prosperity and security and stick together through thick and thin. Themed by ‘Facilitation of In-Depth China-ASEAN Statistical Cooperation and Exchanges’, the 8th China-ASEAN Statistics Forum had discussions and sharing on the topic of ‘Business Register: Basis of Economic Census and Conventional Survey’, which’s of great significance to consolidation of consensuses reached in the 7 previous forums as well as continuous expansion of fields for statistical cooperation and exchanges.
Kang Yi gave a brief introduction to construction of Chinese Business Register. He called for further strengthening of China-ASEAN statistical cooperation and exchanges, exploration of more fields and paths for cooperation in statistical standard development, institutional method design, statistical informatization construction and other aspects, enhancement of statistical talent development based on the opportunity of establishment of China-ASEAN Institute of Statistics, deepening of statistical researches on sustainable development and development of digital economy as well as facilitation of government’s statistical works to better suit development needs of the era.
Representatives of National Bureau of Statistics of China and governmental statistical institutions of ASEAN countries, representatives of Statistics Division of ASEAN Secretariat and representatives of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Bureau of Statistics delivered keynote speeches on Business Register. Mao Youfeng pointed out in conclusion of the conference that the pragmatic and efficient forum with distinct theme has achieved the goal of facilitation of in-depth China-ASEAN statistical cooperation and exchanges, and the forum’s expected to become an opportunity for continuous improvement of channel for cooperation among governmental statistical institutions of different countries to achieve greater results. This forum’s co-organized by National Bureau of Statistics of China and People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. More than 110 representatives from National Bureau of Statistics of China, People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, statistical institutions of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and governmental statistical institutions of ASEAN countries participated in the forum online and offline.
