Video Call Between Kang Yi and the Director of the United Nations Statistics Division

On the morning of September 29th, Kang Yi, director of the National Bureau of Statistics, made a video call with Stefan Schweinfest, Director of the United Nations Statistics Division, and exchanged in-depth views on the preparations for the 4th United Nations World Data Forum (hereinafter referred to as the Forum).

On behalf of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, Kang Yi would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Director Schweinfest for his long-term support and help to the development of statistics in China. He reviewed the long-term friendly cooperation between the National Bureau of Statistics of China and the United Nations Statistics Division, briefly introduced the progress of the preparatory work for the forum, invited high-level United Nations officials to attend the forum, and exchanged views on the research of "Beyond GDP", the future development of Big Data Regional Center of the United Nations Global Platform in China, and funding the participation of representatives from developing countries. Kang Yi said that the National Bureau of Statistics of China will further deepen the cooperation and exchanges with the United Nations Statistics Division in the field of statistics, implement the China-United Nations Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Development, and contribute to the innovation and development of global statistics.

Schweinfest spoke highly of the positive contribution made by the National Bureau of Statistics of China in improving the statistical capacity of the Asia-Pacific region and other developing countries, and expressed his appreciation to China for actively promoting the preparations for the forum. He thanked China for its kind invitation and said that the international statistical community is full of expectations for the forum.
