Mr. Ma Jiantang Participated in the Ninth Meeting of the Global Executive Board of ICP

On October 30, the Ninth Meeting of Global Executive Board of the Eighth Round International Comparison Program (ICP) was held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington. Mr. Ma Jiantang, Commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), attended the meeting as the Board member.

 

 

 

This meeting was important as the current round of ICP was getting into the key period. Meeting content included discussion on preliminary estimating results of global international comparison, later work schedules, data revision policy, data dissemination strategy, project evaluation and other major issues. During the meeting, Mr. Ma Jiantang emphasized on China’s views and concerns of the preliminary estimating results global wide, put forward constructive proposals on later work arrangement and data revision policy of ICP, and got positive respond from participating members.

 

On October 29, Mr. Ma Jiantang held a work meeting with Mr. Kaushik Basu, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank, raised concerns of China on related issues of ICP. On the same day, Mr. Ma also exchanged views with Mr. Chen Shixin, World Bank executive director for China.

 

Messrs. Wen Jianwu, Director-General of Department of Energy Statistics, and Zhao Yuncheng, Director-General of International Statistical Information Center of NBS, accompanied Mr. Ma during the above-mentioned activities.
