Mr. Ma Jiantang Met with the Delegation of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of Sudan

On April 15, Mr. Ma Jiantang, Commissioner of the NBS, met with the delegation of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of Sudan, which was led by Mr. Ahmed Omar Khider, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of Sudan.

 

 

Messrs. Ma Jiantang and Omar recalled the traditional friendship between China and Sudan since the 1950s. Both sides supported each other politically, gained mutual benefits economically, learned from each other culturally, and have become reliable friends and sincere partners.

 

Mr. Omar introduced the Sudanese government's efforts to create a peaceful environment and be committed to economic development. Mr. Omar stressed that the statistical work was very important for making and implementing national development plans, as well as for enhancing the national capacity for development. Sudan is willing to carry out the statistical cooperation with China, to learn from China's experience on statistical work, and to improve the statistical work in Sudan.

 

Mr. Ma made a presentation on the organization of China’s statistical system, data collection framework, priority areas of the statistical work and international statistical training programmes. He pointed out that the NBS is improving data collection by actively taking advantage of the opportunities brought by modern information and network technology; actively promoting the service-oriented statistics, to provide effective services for macro-economic decision-making, for all types of users and survey respondents.

 

Mr. Ma Jiantang encouraged to strengthen statistical cooperation and exchanges between Sudan and China, and to establish closer cooperative relationship with the Central Bureau of Statistics under the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of Sudan. Both sides could work together to create an environment for the exchange of personnel, expertise and statistical training, to promote the common development of official statistics both in Sudan and in China.

 

Messrs. Omer Eisa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sudan, Abdala Hassan Eisa Bushara, SSMO Director General, Abdelgadir Abdalla M. D., Minister Plenipotentiary (DHM) attended the meeting. Messrs. Du Weiqun, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, Liu Heng, Director-General of Department of Policies and Legislation, Xia Rongpo, Acting Director-General of Statistics Education and Training Centre, and Ms. An Yuhuan, Deputy Director-General of Statistics Education and Training Centre of the NBS were present.
