H.E. Li Keqiang Conferred with the Main Guests Participating the International Forum on Monitoring National Development

H.E. Li Keqiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Politburo, Vice Premier of the State Council of China, conferred with 28 Heads of international organization and national statistical offices, who were participating the International Forum on Monitoring National Development, on September 28, at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai, in Beijing.

H.E. Li Keqiang said that the unstable and uncertain factors increased significantly in the current international economic environment. The global financial market went up and down, fermentation of sovereign debt crises, inflationary pressures in emerging economies, world economy in severe complex and constantly changing situation caused the differences of views on future growth and increasing different responses. In this case, strengthening the statistical monitoring to provide correct, complete and timely information, can offer basis for accurately judgement on the situation and trends, and for scientific policy-making. It will also help to forge common understanding of all parties, and to promote, solidarity and policy coordination of all countries, and to facilitate the stable recovery of the world economy.

H.E. Li Keqiang pointed out that, facing the various risks and challenges, the Chinese government will continuing to stabilize the general price level as the priority of macroeconomic planning, speeding up transformation of economic development, intensifying economic restructuring, stepping up its efforts to improve the developmental quality, coordination and overall competitiveness, promoting long-term stable and rapid economic development. China handles her affairs well, that is the contribution to the world.

The leaders from international organizations, such as UN and WB, and from the national statistical offices, such as Mozambique, Qatar, and India expressed their own views on strengthening the international cooperation, and enhancing the capacity of statistics servicing national development.

Messrs. You Quan, Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, Ma Jiantang, Commissioner of NBS, Ning Jizhe, Deputy Director-General of the State Council Research Office, attended the meeting.

International Forum on Monitoring National Development: Issues and Challenges were jointly organized by United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), World Bank (WB) and National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), on September 27-29, in Beijing. The Forum focused on how to better monitoring economic growth, structural change, and social development, discussing the possibilities on green economy and green growth, formulating action plan on statistics servicing national development.
