The Delegation of Statistics Canada on National Accounts Project Visited NBS

According to the arrangement of Sino-Canadian Agreement on Economic Statistics/Subordinated Project on National Accounts of the second term of SIMPII, a three-person delegation on Sino-Canadian Economic Statistics Project/Subordinated Project on National Accounts, headed by Mr. Roger Jullion, Director of Income and Expenditure Accounts Division, System of National Accounts of Statistics Canada, visited NBS on November 4 to 10 and made discussion and communication with Chinese project teams on the following topics: accounting system on quarterly GDP by production and expenditure approach, disposal of data resources and special problems; services for households self-owned houses and finical intermediation, accounting system on “non-observed economy”; concerning issues on GDP by expenditure approach; connection between yearly and quarterly GDP by production and expenditure approach. Moreover, in view of request by Canadian experts, the specialists, from Department of Statistics of Administration of Customs, Department of Population and Employment Statistics of NBS, Department of Urban Social and Economic Survey, were invited to  introduced programming methods respectively on price indices of im-export goods, summary on employment and wages statistics, and programming works on price indices of fixed assets investment. In addition, Chinese side introduced the undertaking project on “Supply-Use Table of China” that NBS cooperated with OECD.       

After serious discussion and deep exchange, as well as full affirmation on the current work performances, both sides confirmed the works and tasks in the next phase and signed an agreement on “Discussion, Decision and Future Assignment on Subordinated National Accounts Project/Economic Statistics Project of SIMPII”.

Messrs. Peng Zhilong, Director-General and Dong Lihua, Deputy Director-General  of Department of National Accounts, Zhang Jun, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, and project team members attended the meeting.
