"Training Course on National Accounts for the Officials of BBS" was Held in Beijing

At the request of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), “Training Course on National Accounts for the Officials of BBS” was held in Beijing, from June 24 to 30. The training course was sponsored by NBS, and jointly organized by Statistical Education Center (Training Academy), and Department of International Cooperation of NBS. Totally 12 Officials, including Messrs. Alamgir Hossain, and Md Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Director-General of BBS, participated the training course.

Mr. Zhang Zhongliang, Director-General of Statistical Education Center of NBS, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an oration. Mr. Du Weiqun, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, introduced the management system of China’s official statistics. Mr. Alamgir Hossain introduced the basic situation of BBS. Mr. Xia Rongpo, Deputy Director-General of Statistical Education Center of NBS, presided over the opening ceremony.

From June 25 to 29, staff members from different Departments of NBS were invited to give lectures to the training course, including Mr.Fang Kuang, from Department of Statistical Design and Management; Mr. Zhao Tonglu, Ms. Liu Huiping, and Ms. Jin Hong, form Department of National Accounts; Ms. Jia Yuhui, from Department of Population and Employment Statistics, Mr. Yu Xinhua, from Department of Industrial Statistics. The lectures covered the industrial and product classifications, basic framework of China's national accounts system, China's input-output accounting, China's occupation classification, and basic situation of China's statistics of industrial enterprises. The discussion and exchanges were also organized. During the course, the BBS officials also visited China Statistical Library and Information Service (SLIS).

During the course, the officials of BBS expressed their urgent need to learn from China's experiences in national accounts, especially the specific practices on input-output, enterprises statistics, industrial classification, occupation classification and product classification, in order to get a better establishment and improvement of their country's national accounting system.

After six days’ lectures, exchanges and discussions in various forms and enriched content, the training course was concluded successfully. Mr. Zhang Zhongliang attended the closing ceremony, gave closing remarks, and issued training certificates to the officials of BBS. Mr. Alamgir Hossain expressed that it was a fruitful training; China's advanced experience in accounts will have a positive effect on improving their country's national statistical system.

The training course on national accounts for the officials of BBS was sponsored by NBS as a professional training for the statisticians in Asian developing countries for the first time. In order to successfully organize the training, from the supports and assistances by the Leaders of NBS, Statistical Education Center (Training Academy) and Department of International Cooperation were actively coordinated with the Department of National Accounts, Department of Statistical Design and Management, Department of Industrial Statistics, Department of Population and Employment Statistics, and SLIS, and put the training course to a successful completion.
